A absolvit, ĂŽn 1960, Institutul de Teatru Či Cinematografie din BucureČti. Ăn 1961 Či-a fÄcut debutul ĂŽn producČia cinematograficÄ ''Purgatoriul nr. 5'', ĂŽnsÄ calea spre marea carierÄ i-a fost deschisÄ de ĂŽntâlnirea cu regizorul Geo Saizescu, care l-a distribuit ĂŽn rolul lui PÄcalÄ, ĂŽn filmul cu acelaČi nume (1974).
